Welcome to our site. My wife and I always wanted to be self sufficient and homestead in our backyard. But we just did not know where to start. My Aunt who lives in Ohio was my inspiration from childhood where I spent my summers growing up on dairy farms. Her small farm produced all the vegetables, eggs and milk a family could need and at 10 years old that impressed me. Now I’m 37 and I want to do the same. Not just for me but for my kids too. What an experience this would be for them.
I chose raised vegetable garden as my starting point because of the simplicity of it all. From there I needed to learn about sprouting, fertilizer, compost, organic methods, pest control, watering, draining and preparing for the next season. Now my wife and I are looking to get a ‘real’ homestead and move from suburbs of southern California to open acres and build an organic farm from scratch.
This raised vegetable garden blog site is dedicated to the information I learn and research over time. I just can’t wait to post up pictures of our farm sometime soon.
Have a wonderful day in your garden.
